W.R. Flynn is a great story teller I have very much enjoyed the Awakening series. This one is a little different than the other books in the series but is still very enjoyable. I do not want to give away too much about the story but it is fun to hear the challenges that they are having and not everything is perfect 10 years later. It is a very real story and could pass and what I would imagine the future could look like if similar events were to occur. There were some parts of the story that seemed repetitive so I took off 1 star for that. I would still highly recommend this book and the series.Product details

Disclaimer - Knowing my interest in his work, Mr Flynn arranged for my having a copy to read. As I always do in exchange, I write my impressions as a review.
Another in his series, Stone Warriors is thought provoking echoing many of the ideas of "appropriate technology." Set some years after "world stopped" it touches on the deep adjustments a community would face as the veneers of technology salvaged from the "old world" wear out or fade away.
It is a different sort of evolution - one that triages with the best at hand while bridging from a steadiness of the present to the eventualities of a different future.
Recounted in a storytellers feel, there are deeper issues being explored if you want to think on them.

I have been reading these as they came out The first book was pretty good even though the group was way to controlled, no one is going to tell (suggest beg or barter maybe) town residents that they can not use their own fuel or ammo etc. in a SHTF situation period. the following books were OK but this last book will have to be the last for me. It was hard for me to finish, it said the same thing about the same utility so many times it was a struggle to finish but I paid for it so I finished it.
I loved the first three books of this series but this one was a real let down. No plot, no action. It seems like Mr. Flynn just wanted to wrap up a story instead of finish a story.
Please make this the last book in the series and start over with a new series or individual book. I have read all of them and the first was so much better than the following three. The first was inspired. The second was good. The third was getting mundane. This one is only a memorial so far.
I am less than halfway through and will keep it in reserve should I run out of novels before restocking. I have a feeling that the "Stone Warriors" will provide some excitement in the second half, but the first half was uninspired.
I enjoyed and recommend others to read this fourth book in W.R. Flynn's Shut Down series. The moving tale of nature's reclamation through impermanence is told craftily through the eyes of both familiar characters and the generations that lived through the Shut Down event, where that which lasts is valued most.
This was a good book, but not as action packed as the previous three. It is the last book in a series, and had to wrap up the story.
